With the development of information networks, online phenomena have begun to exert a major influence on real-world social activities. In particular, destructive dynamics such as online firestorms can cause not only harm to individual victims but also widespread social losses. Our laboratory is working to understand the causes of such online firestorms from an engineering perspective and to apply the findings to practical uses. The scope of these applications spans a wide range of fields, including FinTech, trend prediction, crime prevention, and national security.
