Humans, through their sensory and motor organs, perceive and recognize the external environment and act upon people and objects within that environment. In our laboratory, we investigate the mechanisms underlying the interaction between perception and action mediated by the body, using kinematic analyses with three-dimensional motion capture systems and statistical analyses of data obtained from psychological experiments. Specifically, our research focuses on the visuomotor transformation processes in reach-to-grasp movements, visually induced haptic perception in virtual reality, and visual recognition of body parts such as the face and hands.
